Sustainability
Sustainability
Sustainability is a term that is used in countless contexts, and there are many different interpretations. In the Brundtland Report (1987), which proved to be a pioneer report on the subject, sustainability is defined as "development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs."
Esbensen works primarily with environmental sustainability through the development of sustainable buildings and urban areas with integration of social and economical aspects. To obtain social sustainability, the intended users are involved from an early phase of the project process.
As a part of building sustainable we conduct:
Passive housing
Energy neutral buildings
Economical assessments of sustainability
Assessment of environmental impact from materials
Furthermore Esbensen has competencies in performing environmental labelling of buildings using both LEED (US) and BREEAM (UK). These systems have in common that they give an overall rating of the sustainability and environmental standard of a building. This is achieved by a scoring system that evaluate areas such as energy, water and materials.
We offer:
Development, planning and execution of sustainable buildings and urban areas
Facilitation during workshops for sustainability
Lectures and seminars
