Low-energy dwellings, hasselager

Developer: Brabrand Boligforening
Architect: Arkitema
Others: Sloth Møller
Area: 8000 m2
Budget: 80 mio. kr.
Year: 2011

New construction of 75 dwellings of high-strength concrete according to low-energy class  2015. The dwellings are built as a pilot project to demonstrate that it's possible to build attractive homes of low energy high-strength concrete elements without exceeding the ceiling for subsidized housing. As a result of insulation requirement low-energy buildings have typically very thick walls in order to comply with the energy frame. The use of high-strength concrete in the outer walls results in a minimized quantity of concrete but without deterioration of insulation. The result is an improved gross / net ratio. The buildings  have energy efficient ventilation and solar cell systems is established on all roof surfaces. Furthermore, it is planned to use deep drill geothermal heating linked to a central heat pump systems. Esbensen has developed the energy concept, undertake the design of building systems and carry out calculations on the indoor air quality and thermal energy frame of the dwellings.

Architect: Aart arkitekter
Others: Sloth Møller A/S
Budget: 5 mio. kr.
Year: 2009

The development project Home for Life aims to create an energy-producing house (active house) based on renewable energy. The principle is that the house produces more energy than it uses. It uses only renewable energy in the shape of solar energy and is thus also CO2 neutral. Solar panels (7m2) produces hot water, a newly developed solar pump produces hot water and space heating, solar panels (50m2) generates power and energy efficient windows with low U-value ensures the supply of passive heat. In the house intelligent control is used for the control of heating and ventilation by use of room sensors, and the light is controlled such by presence detectors. Furthermore, there is automatic control of exterior shading, of interior curtains of skylights and opening and closing times for windows. Esbensen has developed a future-oriented energy concept and handled the design of the building installations.
