Development of a digital tool.
The tool can provide owners and tenants with information on structural, energy-conserving enhancements such as improvement priorities and reduction of CO2-emission in proportion to the investment, how to obtain energy-status B etc. Esbensen executes the energy-advisory, project managing and facilitation of the process. The implement is simple to operate and require a minimum of typing. It should furthermore induce the completion of further energy-saving measures. 



NVVK - natural ventilation with Heat recycling and sustainable cooling

Development project regarding natural ventilation with heat recovery and sustainable cooling (NVVK). This project has documented the possibility of recycling of the heat in the air-outlet from natural ventilation in addition to cooling of the air-intake. The developed heat is used to increase the temperature of utility water. NVVK has a reduction potential of up to 40 % of energy, 30 % on operating economy and 25 % on CO2-emmision, compared to conventional ventilation systems. The concept is furthermore not listing requirements on suspended ceilings and the installations can be mounted concealed. The project is supported by the Danish Energy Agency’s EFP-means.

A demonstration project is under construction.


suntiles - Energy curtain

The basic idea is to utilize the energy developed by a curtain hanging in a window, a place where it is possible to generate large amounts of energy. The Danish designer Astrid Krogh has invented the new curtain SUNTILES© in cooperation with a large innovation team. The curtain is producing energy while shielding from the sunlight or preserving heat, and it stores energy for momentary and later use. This way it helps reduce the energy consumption for lighting and cooling, whilst the consumer retains the view. The curtain has the same indoor climate- and thermal properties as traditional sun screens. 

Esbensen spearheaded the analysis and documentation process of the theoretical properties for the product, and provides the basis for decision for the consortium for the progression towards commercialization of the specific product.


I-House, India

The project concerns development of a sustainable residential concept adjusted to the expanding Indian market. The concept has focus on improvements which will reduce the energy consumption by up to 40%. The initiatives are e.g. insulation, low-energy windows, utilization of daylight, solar screening to decrease need of artificial cooling and an indoor climate control system which is individually adjustable. The buildings are constructed with prefabricated elements so that a short construction time on site is obtained. Esbensen is responsible for development of the energy concept.


low-energy residence, Thailand

The low-energy residences provides a healthier indoor climate and consumes 40 % less energy than a standard Thai houses. The residences are constructed by prefabricated elements developed by Thai-Gypsum Building Systems. The elements are made of fiber concrete and have good ventilation abilities. Reflectors are furthermore mounted under the roof surface. 2-layer windows and doors are installed according to light and the buildings are strategically placed on the property. The future buyer is also given a list of recommended, energy efficient electric- and household appliances. Esbensen assisted the development of a concept for low-energy residences in Thailand.



EU Build Health - energy friendly hospitals

The project is completed in cooperation with hospitals in England, Italy, Moldova and technology partners in Poland and Sweden. The project plans to create tangible demonstration models and hereby inspire hospital services in the individual countries to implement new and innovative energy solutions. Esbensen administrates overall project management and energy design including energy optimization, optimization of natural lighting, new lighting systems, deployment of solar cells and solar systems and finally construction with eco-friendly materials. The project- and energy strategies vary from hospital to hospital, but the total reduction of energy consumption will save up to 33 %.



EU Hospitals - energy efficient hospital buildings

Development project to demonstrate the significant reduction of energy consumption obtainable within the European hospital service. Test project are constructed in Aabenraa (Denmark), Bredstedt (Northern Germany), Torun (Poland), Florence (Italy) and Deventer (Holland). Esbensen provided energy consultancy, project management and arrangement. Innovative enhancements as integrated solar energy, energy efficient heating-, cooling-, and ventilation systems, developed utilization of daylight, low-energy windows, eco-friendly insulation materials are emphasized features resulting in a reduction of the energy consumption. The enhancements should furthermore result in improvements on thermal comfort and lighting conditions to patients and staff, inducing an early recovery to patients and making staff work more efficiently.
