Daylight
Visual comfort and maximum use of daylight are central issues in many buildings. When designing buildings there can be several restrictions in freedom to dispose the building envelope in relation to the facades, building depth, floor height, inner surfaces, etc.
Through computer simulation of various alternatives, it is possible to identify and glare conditions and daylight in a building. For complex rooms Esbensen can help with detailed calculations and assessments that provide the basis for clarification of the visual comfort and the establishment of specifications for solar shading and glare protection.
The analysis helps the architect to work very focused with e.g. the design of skylights, solar shading, glare protection etc. that will often be selected on a flimsy basis in a traditional approach. The new tools allow greater freedom and flexibility.
We offer consultancy on:
- Solutions that combine daylight, artificial lightning, solar shading and glare protection
- Simulations of isolux curves, daylight factors, glare index, color rendering etc.
- Control Strategies for artificial lightning to minimize electricity consumption for lighting
The increasing complexity of buildings and increased need for knowledge about daylight has evolved into an independent field of study at Esbensen. We focus on keeping our expert knowledge at the forefront of development and continuously develop and improve the tools we use. This is achieved through close dialogue with partners and universities in Denmark and abroad.
